PARISH NEWS

First Friday Devotions
The First Friday of every month has always been considered special in the church. The celebration of liturgy on these days reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus on that Good Friday afternoon. From the very beginnings of early Christianity, and through the centuries of our Church's traditions, We have always had a special reverence and devotion to these days.
These prayer services will consist of either the rosary, a communion service, the Devine Mercies, or liturgy of the hour, and will conclude with Denediction.We welcome you and your family to join us. Please consider making this day a part of your prayer life.

Who are the Knights of Columbus Mumford Council #365
The Knights of Columbus were founded by Fr. Michael Joseph McGivney on March 29,1892. The Mumford Council #365 charter was granted on August 7,1898. Now in its 113th year, is a very active council that has benn involved in various activities in areas including Church, Community, Family and Youth.
Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older,  who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church.  Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your local Catholic Church, while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life.

BULLETIN DEADLINE FOR INFORMATION
Just a reminder…the deadline for submitting information for the bulletin is on Mondays at 3 PM. It should be in writing, and you can do it in any of 4 ways: by fax (508-234-0964); email (gshepherd7726@charter.net), or simply drop it off at the rectory or in the collection basket. Thank you for your help!

Ministers of Care News

Our Good Shepherd Ministers of Care are available to bring Our Lord Jesus in Holy Communion to those in our parish who are unable tocome to Mass due to advanced years or illness. If you or someone in your family would like to receive a visit, just call the rectory (234-7726) to let us know. It would be our privilege to bring our Good Shepherd to your home in sacrament and in the supportive, caring presence of a person from the church community.

Parish Hall Rentals
AS most of you know, our parish hall can be rented by families or organizations for private and public events and celebrations. The parish Finance Board recently approved the following fees which will take afftect September 1, 2009:

• A $150 dollar retainer will reserve the hall for your event.
($50 will be refunded after the event, provided that the kitchen,  hall, and restrooms are left in proper order.);

• A non-refundable fee of $50 will be charged to civic and community organizations for public meetings and events;

• Our Bereavement Ministry provides the opportunity for families to gather in the parish hall after the funeral mass of a loved one. This service has been provided to our families free of charge, but as this involves much time and labor by our coordinators, hostesses, hosts, and bakers in set-up, service, and clean-up, a goodwill donation is gratefully appreciated.

“Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Outreach
Do you enjoy cooking? Our ministry is looking for additional people to help in this very important(and delicious!) outreach. Our teams provide meals on a monthly basis for those in the parish who can use an extra hand whether it’s due to illness, job loss, or a happy time, such as the birth of a child. Confidentiality is a must! If you would like to help, or need more information, please call Laurie Petty at 278-6901.
